Hi doubledumplings,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked out the sticky posts "PLEASE READ...." and "Thinking of emigrating" ? Those will point you in the right direction to get started.

Unfortunately as far as I'm aware working holidays are only for people aged 18 - 30 yrs old so your husband misses out on that one. So I'm not sure if there is a visa that will allow you to work here for a year - maybe one of the sponsored visas would do that....

Is there any particular reason why you want to work here for a year first - other than try out the country?

Regards,
Karen

Hi DoubleD,
has your husband tried for sponsorship? The 457 business class visa can last between 2 and 4 years. Construction workers are needed, so he might just be able to take this route.

Try out the expo's, the reps are excellent, i think. He may also try some of the job websites for oz, worth a go.
Good Luck
Jane
