Default MARA agents

Hi all

this is my first post.

Is it compulsory to be part of the MARA if you are a visa agent? The guy we are using is not (just found out this evening)... Same person is also telling us not to put him on the visa app (section where u are asked 'did we receive assistance in completing this form"...)

Im very concerned

Hi Porsche,

I moved your post to the Aussie where you'll get a better response.

If you check the MARA website (https://www.mara.gov.au/) all agents must be registered (according to the website).

It sounds like he knows that he should be registered and that's why he doesn't want his name on the form.

How much have you paid him so far? If you haven't paid him anything then I would find a new agent. If you have then I would try to get your money back. He may know what he's talking about but if he did why isn't he a registered agent?

Regards,
Karen

Hi Karen,

I checked his contract and the T&C... hes not a registered MARA Agent. however, hes extremely helpful. We are filling out our own forms with his assistance... he has charged us £1000 all in.

He also states - No Visa = No Fee

If that's what you're happy with then fine - however you mentioned that you were concerned.

I know when it came to our future we wanted to make sure that it was in the hands of someone who was qualified. Otherwise we would have done it ourselves but this forum didn't exist back then.

I hope it works out for you.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there,

TBH, I wouldn't employ an agent who isn't registered.

I'm not saying that just because someone isn't registered that they won't do as good a job as someone who is registered, but if anything were to go wrong you won't be covered at all. i.e. if you're not happy with their service and feel you want your money back, you may have a fight on your hands.
