Default permanent residency application submitted!

Hi everyone,

We came over on a 457 visa with the intention of applying for permanent residency shortly after arrival (we needed to get over here quickly so my partner could begin working). After a few snafus and delays -- none of which were the fault of the Aussie government, by the way -- we finally have everything we need and our application has been lodged this week

Our immigration attorney said she has requested "fast-track" processing because we provided extra materials so it should take about 4 weeks! fingers crossed everyone!

HI Gail,

I don't know if there's a required waiting period. We are being sponsored by my partner's employer so maybe the rules are different there. We do have to have it within a year of his employment commencement according to his employer's rules but that basically gives us till February. Anyway we want to get it over with so we don't have to worry about it anymore and so that I can start a PhD in a few months if I decide to go that route.
