Default Please explain "applying inside" versus "applying outside"

My partner is currently in Australia and I am back home in the US. We will be applying online (in the next two weeks we hope) for the 457 employer sponsored visa for him with me as defacto.

In several places on the forms and immi website there are statements like "if you are applying in Australia then do this now" or "if you are applying outside Australia then wait for instructions"....my question is how does this apply to us since he is "in" and I am "out"?

Has anyone else been in this situation who can advise?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Debxav,

Welcome to the forum.

Interesting question Since your partner is the main applicant and you are the defacto spouse I would have thought inside since he is inside.

It may be worth checking this with someone immigration or with an agent just to make sure.

Regards,
Karen

Thanks Karen.

So even though I am physically in the US I should ignore the statement "don't send your meds yet if you are applying from outside Australia, we'll tell you when we need them". Instead I should follow the "if applying inside Australia send your meds with your application"?

In other words I'd better get a move on and get those meds ready now

Any one else want to throw in their two cents?

D

Well I'm assuming that since you and your other half will be on the same application that all the relevant documentation needs be sent at the same time......

As I said before it might be worth getting a professional decision on this one

Regards,
Karen
