Default A few questions

Hello,

Hope someone can give me some on advice. Ive been looking at moving to Australia. I am an Information Security Professional (BSC Hons, CISSP, CISA, CCSP etc) and am currentley in the UK. I have looked at the visa situation and am confident that I would have no problems there.

The questions are:

How likley is it I would get a decent job (I am a managing consultant in the UK)

How does the pay and cost of living stack up against the UK (i.e. would I be financially better off or about the same?)

What is the income tax level?

Could my daughter go to an Australian school or would I have to pay private school fees?

I need to really consider this as the move would be costly i.e. visa, air fares, shipping costs and of course I would have to give up my UK job to find work in Australia.

Thanks in advance.
Graeme

What's a decent job to you? Have you checked out the job links in the "PLEASE READ...." post towards the top of the forum? See if you can find some vacancies for what you are looking for and that may give you an idea of pay too.

As I mentioned above try to find out what you would be earning here. The cost of living varies wildly (see the "Cost of living" post) depending on where you are thinking of moving to. I would say that costs such as groceries are probably more expensive than the UK but we are in rural Oz. That post will give you an idea of costs in various area in Oz.

Check out the tax links in the "PLEASE READ..." post since that has a tax calculator in it.

Yes she could go to an Aussie school and that is what most expats seem to do.

And that's what most of us find too It is costly and most of us have to find work when we get here but having been here nearly a year I can say that it's definitely worth it!

Regards,
Karen

Hi

If you fall in this category, Management Consulting (Managers, Senior Managers, Principals/Directors Senior), your average income should be between 1,00,000-1,60,000 annually depending on your experience. I checked this from the Salary guide that I downloaded form somewhere.

If you open the careerone website, you can check the salary survey in that.
