Default Changes in Visa Fee

Hi all,

I was just told by my consultant that the visa fee has been increased with effect from 1st July.. I think earlier it was 2105 A$, I tried searching but am unable to get the exact increase in the same.. Can anyone suggest??

We are so badly stuck with our passports that we can not apply for the visa for another month or two. I feel so low.

We cleared our assessment in 25 days and now this wait to file teh application, its a killer..

Can you also please tell me, What would be the deadline for us to apply for the visa, we got our result for ACS on 24th or 25th may (I think the validity is one year and we have to apply within one year from the date of assessment result). we are already behind by a month and half. I was told that we should apply within a year post the result date.

Anj

Hi Anj,

You can go to the following site where they've got all the costs.
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/990i.pdf

Any DIAC visa application that is lodged AFTER 1st July 2008 will need to have the correct new fee included.
The new fees for some of the more common visas are below :
General Skilled Migration was $2060 will rise to $2105
(885,886,487,475,175,176)

Onshore Partner and family visas was $2060 will rise to $2105
(804, 864, 820, 804)

Offshore Partner and family visas was $1390 will rise to $1420
(309, 143, 103)

Temporary Resident was $190 will rise to $195
(457)

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Our ACS letter states that it's only valid for 12 months on the issue date of the letter (which means that you have 12 months to apply for your visa), but I won't leave it for that long.
You need to make sure in the meantime that you have all the other docs ready, so that you don't waiste more time and when you get your passports you only need to apply.

Hi again Catz, Problem is, a lot of paperwork depends on the passport. Our marriage registration, since the registration people consider the passport as address proof, since we are on rent, passport works well with them. then, we are from India, we need to take the IELTS, for the IELTS they need the passport number, now, my husband already has a passport but we can not give the current passport detail since he has given the passport for change of address, inclusion of spouse name and change of marital status, which means for all this they issue a new passport and cancel the previous one. If i give the current passport number, it might not be valid after shekhar is issued another passport. dont want to take any chances. and ielts normally takes a month or so, they have a waiting period for the seat. so we are stuck..
i just called the passport office folks, and they are yet to receive the police verification. the speed at which the work happens here...its all so irritating.

Hi Anj,

Yes, I can see that you'll have a bit of a problem. When we started the process we didn't do anything until we had our passports, marriage certificates etc because our home affairs in SA also takes quite long. You can wait up to 3 months here for your passport (I was lucky, we got our passports in about 6 weeks).

Hmmm, well in India things work slow, I am getting my passport made in Tatkal, which means fast/emergency here. They make the passport in nothing more then 4 days provided all the papers are in order. Shekhar already had a passport, he gave it for change of address since his passport was made from his home town and now he does not live there, we live in Gurgaon, which is the National Capital Region (NCR), it is not in Delhi but adjoining. We applied in Delhi and it then comes to Gurgaon ahence making the procedure longer. Had I any idea it would take this long, I would have got things done through an agent, but no point cribbing since its too late to change whats gone. . All we can do it wait. As for housing etc, we have no issues with it, since we are on rent, all we will have to do post our visa application gets a green is take care of the refrigerator and other households, but that can wait, that would be another bit of tension which can wait. I am worried about all the furniture that we bought when I got married and I got married on 8th Feb so its really really new.

Lets see how it goes.
