Default Preemptive prep for job hunt before visa grant

On SlimNeo's suggestion, I am starting this thread for all people who are waiting for the visa to share their experience. Many of us feel that this time is best utilized by sharpening our job skills so that we will be in demand when we reach Australia. Please share any updates on hot skills in Australia, certifications/technologies in demand and any other relevant information. Looking forward to healthy feedback from everyone.

I'm a QS by profession and I'm taking the time to complete my professional exams (wish me luck - I'm 2 months away from it ). Once that is done, I'm planning to do the Aussie equivalent of the exams and just get a few more letters after my name.

Degrees are not as highly regarded in my profession as professional memberships, so using this time to get the extra qualifications that will set me apart from the bunch.
