Default Visa help required!!

Hi,

Myself and a friend are moving to Melbourne. I have a working holiday visa however my friend is currently awaiting her work visa to come through to begin a job on 7 March. Our flight is on Sunday and it has not yet been approved. She has contacted the Consulate who advised they did not deal with the type of visa she is waiting on and so far no one has emailed back from the correct department. Can she enter the country on a holiday visa until the actual visa is issued?

Any help at all would be appreciated given we fly in less than a week!!!

Thanks

Hi lindsayfb,

If you check out the website it states that you must be outside the country when the WHV is granted:

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)

It's the first line under general requirements.

Regards,
Karen

Thanks Karen, don't think I made myself very clear initially so apologies for having to ask again!

She has a three year contract with a Uni in Melbourne and it's the visa for that which is being processed however hasn't been granted, it's not a working holiday visa that she's waiting on.

If that visa doesn't arrive can she apply for a holiday visa for the period until the visa based on her contract is granted?

Thanks again!

Lindsay

Hi Lindsay,

Try doing a search on the DIAC website for that visa and see if it says in the eligibility requirements (that's what I did for the WHV ).

Regards,
Karen
