Default Deciding 457 IMAN Benefits - hoping to get pregnant in Oz

Hi,

My wife and I are migrating to Melbourne from the US. We have been trying to get pregnant for a while and are the move to Oz will do the trick. Can you help us choose the best insurance from IMAN. A few questions;
  • What IMAN private insurance do most expats choose? We're looking at 320, 390, 190, 120.
  • What insurance do you recommend if we are hoping to get pregnant sometime in the two years we are there? (Knowing that there is no coverage from IMAN for the 1st 12 mos.)
  • Will we be covered got the hospital costs if we give birth within the 1st twelve months?

Which plan you choose will be down to people's personal preferences.

This is what their website says about pregnancy:

100% Expenses for pregnancy and obstetrics after 12 months continuous membership on family / couple 320 Plan. Includes both Private Hospital & Out-Patient services.

Any thoughts how a private insurance may handle a situation where a person would become pregnant just prior to the 12 month waiting period?

Would they still cover expenses once the 12 month waiting period has expired?
