Default Good Suburbs for families in Melbourne

Hello there, I am relcating from New York to Melbourne with my wife and 2 years old. My office in Melbourne would be on Lonsdale street in the CBD. Any suggestions as to what suburbs would be ideal to look for a rental property (considering a reasonable train commute), good neighbourhood, play groups for my son and safer environment. I have been commuting 50 min to an hour each way to work here in NY and would be happy with anything within this timeframe. I would also like to live in a more green and leafy suburb (not into beaches really). Please provide rental estimates for a 2 or 3 bed house. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Syed.

Hi Syed,

Welcome to the forum.

Here are some websites that may be of help.

Moving to Sydney or Melbourne? Find where to live with Cityhobo - Home

Search Results

Mums Club - Find Local Mums and Groups

Rental Properties, Lease and Holiday Rentals - realestate.com.au
(impossible to provide rental estimates as it will depend on which suburb you choose)

We live along the Mornington Peninsula so can't give you any personal recommendations about Melbourne suburbs. There are members who live in the suburbs so hopefully they'll be able to fill you in. Otherwise, do a forum search, I'm sure that this subject has been bought up before.

Dolly
