Question Canadian moving to Australia

Hi not sure if I am in the right place or not so here goes. My husband was just asked to relocate to Australia by his company. I am a teacher here in Canada, will I be able to teach there....also will I be able to get permanent residency or citizenship if I am 44 when we arrive...heard something about an age cut off is that true? If anyone can offer some advice i would appreciate it quickly...his company wants an answer soon...thanks

Hi,

As far my knowledge, migration legislation is such that no one over the age of 45 can apply for residency in Australia under the General Skilled categories.

I think you should have a look at DIAC website, it would have more info.

However, there were some news about govt willing to relook the age limit.

Hope it works in your favour.

All the Best.

You're right 45 is the cut off age, exceptions are made though for people who are exceptional to the needs of their employer and who apply under the employer sponsorship scheme. I've seen people go this route so I know it is possible.

If his company wants him there that fast perhaps they can sponsor you both, rather than going through the general skilled migration route.
