Default Quick Questions!

How come I have become a senior Expat. and My Rep power is 7.. hehhe.. how is this calculated??

Time for a question, rather a series of them

1. Police Clearance.. Here in India Police Clearance means a lot of money in the entire Hierarchy. But what exactly one has to do with it. Go to the area Police station and get the form signed or what???

2. Medicals.. I checked on the website, a list of docs whose tests and reports are considered, now, I need to get my Lipid profile and other tests done on a regular basis, yesterday I went to the Doc(who did my banding surgery), (good news is I am down 4 more KGS, from 47 kgs down, I am now 51 kgs down..cant put my hapiness in words), just to check how my body is reacting to eating so less he has asked me to get all tests done, the Lipid profile, B12, Blood Count, Protein count etc, all these do cost a lot, and I was wondering if I should get them done form the same doc, if they are valid for 6 months, then I can skip a few tests when I am asked to get them done, and incase I am late with our application I will get them done again anyways...
My question is, are the tests valid for 6 months? and does it make sense to get these done form the same doc or should i go to my regular doc who I am sure will be cheaper.

3. How difficult is it to pick medicines from the shelf in OZ? here in India we take any medicine, say the ones for common cold or flu or stomach infection off the shelf, no one asks for any prescription. I just pick my vitamins, anti acidic tablets, digestive syrups etc, and all the while I was wondering, anj babe, get used to showing a prescription for medicines. We both have no medical issues, Except for my banding, and the doc told me yesterday that you have a phobia bot you are not dependant on docs becasue of the band..

4. This one is off the previous questions, but I have just started painting again, oil on canvas, this is something that I always wanted to do but stopped painting a decade back.. what is the scope of paintings there and can it be taken as a profession?

I might act funny today, I am on cloud nine(rather 10) because of my weight loss. . Excuse me if I am over-reacting.

Anj

Hey Anj,
congratulations on your weight loss; i am getting your share i think! Im just a greedy pig though
From what i understand, your agent/ employer will ask for a police check; all you have to do is supply a list of any names and adresses you have lived at over a period of time! Here in the u.k it is standard for anyone working within the public sector; on occasion, you will be sent a copy for your own records!
Not sure about Oz though, if you are applying for PR, you need to get it done regardless of your employment status!
Hope it all goes well......
Jane

Also,
you HAVE to use the panel doctors!!! They have been approved by the DIAC. Sorry, but the cost is irrelevent to the powers that be! I just paid over £916 GB for 6 of us, then the x-rays cost £350 for 5 of us; in all a lot of money.
Have fun
J

In the UK I think we went to the local police station and filled out some forms. It wasn't a big deal but I don't know how this works in India.

As NorthernMover said you can ONLY use the doctors on the medical panel. This cost us a bit more too since time off work, travelling to private practice etc, but immigration will ONLY accept their panel doctors.

Cold medicines, vitamins etc. are available in some supermarkets and definitely available in pharmacies off the shelf.

I can't help you on that one since I know nothing about painting.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Karen

Hi Anj,

As far as I'm aware, all you need to do for your medicals is get a letter from your doctor stating what you've had done and how well it's working. The panel doctor won't test you for your stomach bands when you have your medical. So having your regular check up and seeing the panel doctor will be 2 separate things, not connected.

Depending if you get a Category A or B medical result, your medical results will be for one year if you get a Category A, if you get a Category B medical result it will be for 6 months.

Dolly

You'll get a Category A if you don't need to have any further tests done.

Husband got Category B because he had to have blood tests, ECG etc (high blood pressure at his medical).

Hi,
Panel doctors will do the routine blood tests such as blood counts and more importantly serology-HepB and HIV tests relevant to migration.Xrays to rule out chest conditions especially new/old tuberculosis. In my opinion your surgery will not be relevant to processing in any way but we have to list all operations/medications etc.I never got to see the results, they said they are ok!!thats all.
BTW congratulations on the weight loss.GREAT!!Also very brave of you to undergo surgery to help the need to shed weight.good luck.
