Mette,
You also want to check that the medication is available in Australia, especially if it's new. Some medication I was on in the UK wasn't available here but I could have something else that works fairly well although isn't quite as good. I was told that I could pay for the medication to be brought into the country but for me that wasn't worth the cost.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Robogirl

My RA is also well under control with my medication, I also have private medical insurance so I am not sure if it will be a problem. I will be getting a letter from my doctor telling them about he condition and I will also get a letter from my medical insurance stating that they cover my chronic medication so there will be no cost to the government. I am hoping this will be sufficient.

What I also read online is that when applying for PR they do a medical and should you be classed as overweight/obese they then do further test to find out if you have heart disease, diabetes or arthritus so obviously they are not wanting to take chances that anyone will be a drain on their medical resources.

Maybe get a letter from your medical aid saying that all your costs will be covered in Australia?

Veronika? Does this sound ok to you or should we be concerned or doing something more perhaps???

They don't always do extra tests since I'm obese but since everything else is normal (no high blood pressure or anything - it really annoys some doctors ) I didn't have to have further tests.

Karen

Hi Karen, well I was really shocked to discover according to MBI that both my husband and I are considered "level 1 obese" this was terrible news. I knew I had an extra couple of KG's but I wouldnt call it obesity LOL

Kaz101: The medicin "Enbrel" is available in aussie.

LetMeIn: So your private health insurance will cover your medicin when you leave to another country ? Well, Denmark won't pay for mine if/when I leave :-( We will need to get an insurance when we are in the country, but we have a mail from both medicare AND a private health insurance that if I am in the country on a 175 then they don't have any problem cover my medicin expences, but I just need to get it.

I talked to a socialworker here in Denmark and she told me that: yes me medicin is expensive, but that shouldn't be a problem, as long as I can work and pay my taxes to the state they shouldn't let it get in between. Oooh, I hope that it will be possible without any problems.

Hi all,

I also have a question around police clearance in South Africa. We're applying for a 175 visa and now we have to get police clearance and medicals. I wanted to find out if anyone knows how long it takes to get police clearance? I've read somewhere that we should get our fingerprints etc done at our nearest police station, because that would speed up the process.

Regards
Catz
