Hi Paul,

We are headed to Melbourne, OH has job lined up in Port Melbourne and so we are looking for rental properties on the outskirts, but he doesnt want to commute any longer than 45-60mins each way.

Just waiting for company to hurry up and give us an idea of when we can start things rolling over here.

What about you?

Em x

We are off to Sydney. The company is on the lower North Shore. Hopefully OH should be able to get a job in that area as well. She works for a big global corp who have offices in Sydney.

I'm just waiting for the employer sponsorship reference before I start the visa application.

From what they have experienced with previous foreign hires this will (apparently) not take too long. So I'm looking at April/May for my start date.

Excited!

Ta,

Paul.

Just reading the posts above and I am also in the process of moving to Aus under 457 spons visa

I got the job on the 17th December but didnt expect to hear anything until this week regarding visa applications

We'll be moving to Brisbane area, we rent our house at the moment so no house sale for us to go through

The company I'm going to work for have said they will do the visa and ask us to log onto the immigration website to fill in our parts when needed

They seem to think 3 months also and say I should be in the country by end of March with a start date of mid April once we have settled

Dan

Dan/Emma,

Have you started the visa process yet?

I've lodged the application & have attached various docs to it. (There was a slight cock up where I thought I'd saved the application, but had actually submitted it).

The status is now in a 'processing' state. Does anyone have any idea how long it usually takes to get to the 'we need more info' stage?

Ta,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Still nothing on the visa front, the company are in the process of renewing their licence to sponsor people on the 457 etc, and so as soon as that is completed, they can begin the application.

Incidentally, following a skype chat with the company at the beginning of this week, they said that they think April is when we will be over....?!? Personally I think it will take a bit longer than that, considering nothing has started yet, \nd also as we are putting the house on the market next week and need to get it sold before we go!

Hows thing with you at your end? Has it all gone swimmingly for you?

It gone very well at this end. The visa was approved a few days ago. It went from 'additional processing' & the first email from the case officer to 'approved' in one day.

It was a month from application to approval. The Police certificate was the thing that took the longest time, but you can apply for that before you even start the visa process.

I got the health cover through HBA (who seem to be Bupa) and they emailed a letter of confirmation which I could attach to the application.

Neither me of my wife had to have health exams/chest xrays which way a bit of a result.

I'm sure that once your application starts things will kick on pretty swiftly.

Good luck!

Paul.

Hi All,

This is my first post on this thread. It feels a bit like butting in but I am simply too curious. Can you people inform me how you got job offers while you are not in Australia? Are there any recruitment agencies that specialize in this or is it solely through word of mouth??? Many, many thanks in advance for your kindness

To be honest, we just researched appropriate companies on the internet, and via their website we emailed them asking if they had any job opportunities. Simple really. No agenices, just direct action!

Thanks for the headsup!!! I am currently ambivalent about contacting employers or not. I have applied for 175 in January, have got a rock solid high paying job in Pakistan but don't have much of a bank balance to write home about. I was wondering if someone would sponsor me for a 121 - OK I'll give everyone time to laugh out loud - but given the dire warnings I have read on the forum about 475, it seems that might turn out to be an exercise in futility. Further, I would need to spend about 2/3 years with the same employer and that may give the employer a stick to wave over my head. So all in all, my current plans are to save money, get certifications and wait for 175 which truly IS the least restrictive of all visas. But once I get the visa, I will try out this trick BEFORE I go to Australia and see if I get a response.

Many, many thanks for your reply. And if you come across the need for an Analyst Programmer, give me a whisper in the ear (or more realistically, a private message ). Best of luck on your journey downunder.
