Ok, me and a mate both aged 29 wanted to get the full visa to stay in Oz for good but our jobs are not on the wanted list. Does this mean we could never get the full visa or is there another way around it? like getting a working visa then extending it? or can you buy your way in?
Wasn`t sure so thought id ask

Hi levilee,

If you look at the sticky thread at the top of the forum page "please read...." there is a link to the DIAC website. All the visa categories are there. TBH with most visa categories, your job has to be on the skills in demand list.

I'd definitely get in contact with an agent. They'll be able to give you advice on your options. The first consultation is usually free without obligation. There are 2 migration agents who occasionally post on here, send them a PM/email and see what they say (Alan Collett and Liana Allen).

What are chances of getting the visa if you are being sponsored by a company? How long does the overall process takes? N do we still have to get our skills accessed as normal?

Hi Heregoes,

It depends if your skills are required by companies.... If they are then you will probably get sponsorship. If you read through the posts there are others on here who have sponsorship. I think it varies as to the amount time it can take to find sponsorship. We came in the skilled independent route because we wanted a permanent visa and to live where ever we wanted to live.

Regards,
Karen

Thnx Karen for the info. Usually for sponsorship how long will u be tied down to the company? Does it varies through jobs? Problem is I want to go through the skilled independent route but not sure which is the correct one for me.. Well i am currently in the building systems such as CCTV and fire systems industry. So there isnt any skill that is exactly for this industry. What i can think off and what i have read so far is maybe skills as a electrical technician. Are u able to be access by more that one skills?

I doubt that you can use more than one skill. Have you asked an agent?
Their first consultation is usually free and they might be able to say which one is right for you. Occasionally we have Alan Collett and Liana Allan on the forum and you can contact them and ask.

Regards,
Karen

Thnx again Karen.. Will research more on this issues. Planning to work in Oz in 2 years time maybe. Just a question. If my wife is a secondary applicant for the visa is it possible if she is not working/or working part-time in Oz? Coz my child will only be 2 yrs then and taking care of my baby will be top priority.

I would have thought that would be okay as long as you have enough points on your own. That's another question you can check with an agent
