Default Assessment Expiring, Need some help

Hi all

My friend need some help, his matter is as:

He applied for VIC SMP on 6th nov. His acs letter is expiring on 7th of jan 2011. Now suppose if he get successful SMP from VIC after 2 months (that is 6th jan 2011), then he might not get chance to apply before ACS expiry (as he would have less than a day to apply, or maybe even not that). Would that hurt?

He has also applied (2 months ago) for second ACS assessment (Software Engineer) and its result letter is expected to reach on 10 days.

Any suggestion what should he do in this case. Would be acs expiry spoil his potential to apply at DIAC for 176 application even though he had SMP (assuming) based on that expired ACS letter?

Remember that not every post will get a reply if it's outside our experience since we're not experts.

Your friend could always contact the ACS and ask them.

you are right, i was just wondering if anyone has faced similar situation. It's quite difficult situation and i have advised him to contact ACS, relevant state and DIAC and i hope he would get right answer.

One question... Is his previous ACS assessment same "Software Engineer"?
If this is true, then he does not need to worry even if his ACS expires, he has a fresh one in line.

His old assessment is of old ASCO code and is 2231-79(C# specialist) which is available in the current Vic SMP.

Is your friend having 100 points? If yes then not waiting for sponsorship letter let him apply for 175 Visa now. Worst his application is elligible for Pool. So no worries. This way validity question of ACS assessment will get automatically sorted and also he will be in DIAC Queue. As 175 application case Officer assignment takes some time, so when state sponsorship is available 175 can be easily converted to 176. This way you can get over the problem. One cant be very sure of a state's sponsorship. So better apply for some other state too. If both are successful then no problems. PLEASE VALIDATE MY SUGGESTION BY GOING THROUGH DIAC SITE.
