Default confused of wirral (nurse)

Hi Guys,
i am feeling a bit down now. I just read some of the newer post; wish i hadn't i am so disoriented now.
Some BIG questions......
1) As a nurse, i have submitted all the relevent docs. to the recruitment agent; i haven't been asked to have them notarised.... Is this Mandatory?

2) My application to NBSA went in April, early. I haven't heard yet, although told about 12 weeks is the norm..... will they inform me, or the agent?

3) Got medicals next week, for 6 that's a whole lotta dosh.......without registration, should i wait? the agent just said to go ahead!

4) Once, and if, i get the visa, how long befor i have to go to Australia? I have my house on the market, but i guess most of us here still do!!!

with all the money going out so fast, i might have to get another job!!!!
Help me please
Jane

Hello Jane,

You haven't mentioned which visa you are applying for!

I will do my best to answer your questions:

1) As a nurse, i have submitted all the relevent docs. to the recruitment agent; i haven't been asked to have them notarised.... Is this Mandatory?

Do you mean to your migration agent?
Most agents are able to certify documents, so your agent has probably done that.

Also, if they are lodging an online application colour scans of originals are fine and may not need to be certified.

2) My application to NBSA went in April, early. I haven't heard yet, although told about 12 weeks is the norm..... will they inform me, or the agent?

If it was submitted by your agent then they will most likely let your agent first.

3) Got medicals next week, for 6 that's a whole lotta dosh.......without registration, should i wait? the agent just said to go ahead!

Your agent will know your case inside and out, so you should listen to their advice. If they had any doubts about your chances they would undoubtedly have let you know.

4) Once, and if, i get the visa, how long befor i have to go to Australia? I have my house on the market, but i guess most of us here still do!!!

Again this will depend on the type of visa you are applying for. For permanent visas there is an "initial entry date" which is 12 months from the date of your medical or police checks (whichever bear the earlier date). Other rules apply for other visas.

Cheers,

Hi Jane,

It's only natural to be anxious...a lot of us have been where you are right now and it's a tremendously nerve racking time. If you ever have any more worries, just post them on here, there will always be someone who can help and ease you through it.

Hi there jsut been reading this post and I am getting more confused.. I am being sponsered by nursing in Wa and going for PR, I was told that this lasts for 5 years before I have to go to Oz, is this true. Like everyone else I have my house on the market and it may not sell for a while. A colleague of mine who is also a nurse got her PR visa a while ago but her kids won't go, she informed me that it lasts for a few years before she has to go out.. Can anyone clarify this with me please...
Thanks Janice.

Hi Janice,

Which visa are you going for?

Different visas have different rules.

We went for the skilled independent visa and with that one you have 5 years to permanently move to Oz but you must validate the visa within a year. The year is taken from the police check or medical and validate just means a trip to Oz and back to the UK if you're not ready to move yet. We had our visa approved in 2004, validated in 2005 but didn't actually move out until 2007.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Oh god I am getting more confused. Initially I was going on a 457 visa sponsered for nursing post. However after doing my own research I decided to go for Permanent residency visa. After discussions with the nurse manager in Wa he said this would be best for our family. It basically means when we get to Oz I would be free to work in any hospital as although I am stilll being sponsered it is for PR. So I am presuming it is skilled visa. We started process off in MArch and have not heard anything. The nurse manager said we just have to wait to hear from immigration, they will tell us about medicals etc. So I haven't started the CRB, certifying documents yet. It may be that we have to have a holiday to Oz if we haven't sold our house.
Thanks Janice.
