Default How to increase first entry Period

Hello Friends,

My name is Faisl Mubarak. I am from Pakistan and working in ABU DHABI,UAE as IT professional in Telecom Company. I recently got Aus Visa Class 136-Independent along with my Wife who is also dentist but his assessment based on professional is not done. However, i have one 6 months baby boy as well whose visa is not issued by DIMA. I need an advice that is it possible to extend first enty of Australia as presently set August 29,2008. How to proceed on this?

Also, i need to know that anybody know about halal food market in Australian Cities like Melbourne and Sydney.

Last and not the least that being a muslim i have heard that Racism is do happen in Australia since i am sure that not all do involved in that but need to know current situation?

Thanks

G'day Faisal,

I cannot answer your visa question, but halal food is very easily obtained in Melbourne. Especially in areas such as Footscray and Brunswick.

Are Australian's racist? Well a few may be, but the biggest problem migrants seem to have is when they don't embrace the Australian way of life. I don't mean you have to change your religion or deny your culture or even your dress code, but you will have to accept that Australia is a Western Society, You will be the newcomer so it is you who will have to make the effort to "fit in". You will find Australians usually accept you for what you are personally not what colour, race or culture you are. Apart from the Aboriginies we have all been immigrants to this country at some time or other.

But don't be put off though even some Brits experience the problem of Australia not being a sunny Britain.

Default Initial Entry

Hello Faisal,

You cannot extend the initial entry date. If you and your wife (and any other person who was granted the visa) do not enter Australia by that date you will lose your visa and you will have to go through the application process again!

Please make sure that you and your wife do make the initial entry! Once you enter Australia you can return to Pakistan to organise your permanent move. You do not immediately have to stay in Australia.

As for your baby boy, you will have to apply for a separate child visa for him.

Best of luck,

Veronika

Hi Faisal,

Congratulations on getting a visa!

As Veronika mentioned the visa must be validated by the entry date. We also had to validate the visa before we moved over here permanently last year.

I think you will find less racism in the bigger cities such as Melbourne since as dalhousie already mentioned they are very multicultural. There will be a few intolerant Aussies unfortunately and one woman I know still gets that occasionally here in Mount Gambier for her dress code even though she's been here for years. However this is a rural area and doesn't always accept change easily.

Regards,
Karen

Hi,

Whoever has been included in your visa must enter the country by the entry date you have been given.
