Default Confused!!!!HELP

My husband is a self employed painter and decorator,he has been doing this on and off for 20 years but self employed in our own little business for the last year and half,we are a family of 5 having 3 teenagers and want to move out to oz,am i right in thinking he has to do the tradeassess(we have the forms for this) first and what does this involve, also i am a bookbinder but havent done this job for 18 years although i still could and have a letter from the company i used to work for.We want to come to Adelaide. After the tradeassess do we put in our visa application and what sort of visa do we apply for as we noticed painting and decorating is a job in demand. There are so many to choose from and there is so much to take in.

Hi Chris and Wendy,

Have you checked out the immigration website? That is a helpful website and you can find it in the "Please read...." post.

Have you contacted an agent just to talk you your situation with them? We have 2 on the forum - Alan Collett and Liana Allan.

We came in through the skilled independent visa because it gave us more flexibility as to where we could live and what we could do. The points test is in the "Please read..." post. Other people like the security of a job and so they try for sponsorship... When you get here would your husband be setting up a business or going for a job? If he wants to set up his own business then try the points test and see how you get on...

Regards,
Karen

Hi Chris and Wendy.
Glad to see others are hoping to move to Adelaide, i was beginning to think it was just us!!!
You could try looking on the Adelaide Advertiser website, we found it useful when looking for jobs, houses etc.
Hopefully we make the "jump" this christmas, sale of the house dependent.
My husband is going to be a househusband(!) for a few months when we go, which basically means 2 days of housework, shopping etc; then playing golf. Cushy for some.
Good luck
Jane
