Moving to Sydney - Meeting new people?

Hey all,

I've been reading through some of the posts here and just wanted to say thanks as this is a really great resource.

I've been on a reccy to Sydney, and my potential employer have said they will sponsor me for visa etc. I guess the main thing im concerned about would be making new friends and leaving the comfort zone that is the UK.

How have other people found it when moving? Im 22 at the moment, id love to hear from any other young professionals that have made the move to Sydney.

Congratulations on the sponsorship. Do you have an area in mind that you will be moving to?

Making friends isn't too difficult....Australians are a very friendly bunch. You'll probably make friends through work first, then slowly build up from there.

I was looking at moving to Balmain or Rozzle areas of sydney? They looked really nice when I came over last week. Do you think they would be suitable for a 22 year old guy?

Im just taking a look at the prices of cars too - they seem to be inflated vs the UK prices?

Sorry, can't help with info on Sydney as we live in Victoria. There are members that live in and around Sydney so I'm sure they'll be able to advise you.
