Default Trades recognition form

After getting all my letters of conformation from previous employers dating back to 1983! i am on question 8 which is causing me some distress.
It reads
'Give a detailed description,in your own words of the work you have done including the actual duties or tasks over what period and how often you performed each duty or task, and the types of machines, equipment, tools, insrtuments and materials you used.'
Such a huge question.....HELP!!
Also i have lost/mislaid my passport which has been photocopied and signed by a solicitor.Do i need to get my new passport re-signed.

I did this as a hairdresser and yes it was a big reply - continued on a seperate sheet actually, I literally wrote everything down, every kind of service i was able to provide (eg club cutting, point cutting, highlighting, weaves, completing record cards, using tongs, hairdryer, tail comb, styling products...absolutly everything thing I did and what i used to do it) You probably arent a hairdresser but just giving you an example!! hope this helps!!

about the passport, by signed do you mean verified by solicitor? if so yes, my husbands passport expired and the new one needed verifying!

Hi Dave,

Yep, the skills assessment is a doozy isn't it. You have to go into the most minute detail as to how you did things, what tools you used, why you used that tool, how you used machinery, what you've learned over the years etc etc etc....it's takes absolutely AGES!!!!

But, it is all worth it I promise.

Hey Dave,
When I filled out my tra, I did'nt go mad on question 8.
I gave a general overview of what I was doing at the time, the contract being industrial or commercial, a basic overview of the project, it being a hotel or an office block or a factory i was wiring, and lastly the type of tools used and for what purpose.
As an electrician the tools used are pretty much the same from job to job so I did'nt feel I needed to repeat myself over and over.
Over all it ended up at about 1 foolscap page hand written.
Got a positive reply in two weeks.

One piece of advice I would give you would be to photocopy your application before you send it away as you will find the same questions repeating themselves from time to time in the actual visa application form and you dont want to contradict yourself by accident (especially on paper).

If i can be of any help give me a shout.

All the best,
Sparky.

Hi,
I pretty much covered everything so hopefully it will be OK.Probably a very boring confusing read though.
I will take your advice and photocopy the whole application.
What was your next step after getting a positive feedback from TRA? and where did you end up in OZ.
Cheers
