Default moving to melbourne

hi new to the site, it is very good
myself my husband and 16 month old baby girl are moving to melbourne,
we are a yound easy going couple, who want a nicer life style than here.we are home here 4 years and looking forward to a better quality of life. it s been a while and now we have a baby, bit nervous has things changed what is it like, where shall we live. we were talking about port melbourne, clifton hill, steve said williamstown is lovely. do not want to live way out but want to live in an easy going enough place with nice coffe shops , park, gym etc..
when we were young and single liked the places like chapel street etc.. but would not like to take up a baby there.
also any advice on child care, play group or creches. will be so good for her to mix as we leaving alot of family behind and i would like to meet other mums
sorry all the questions, one more is there suburbs that there is alot of expats living in, eg.. years ago maybe even now there were alot of old irish in clifton hill.

Hi guys, Williamstown is lovely and so is Port Melbourne but the thing with both places is because they are on the water, they tend to be windier and cooler in winter. Williamstonw in particular is especially good for families. There are plenty of places in Melbourne that are good for young families. I quite like Ascot Vale in the inner west or Yarraville because it has a great village feel. Anyhow, I found a very useful website called cityhobo and others on this forum have recommended it too, maybe it can help you decide.
