Default life after pathway D

Hi Guys just to let you know myself and husband were in the process of moving to Australia when they took pathway D away we though that all are options were over until we came across a company who has really helped us out very quick service, nice friendly staff they are called Australian Construction Training Services ( ACTS) For Short. They are a company that if you have not got your qualifications in your trade but have been in the same trade for over 4 years and you are able to gather evidence of same they will come and evaluate you and your work and provide you meet all the requirements they will issue you an Australian qualification so that you can apply under pathway E if you want more info check out there web site, google trade train and you will get there web site from that . They will provide all the information up front and it might be just what you are looking for.

Hi Joanne,

Congratulations on finding another way to get in!

What's pathway D and E? I'm not familiar with those terms?
How long did it take for you to get approval in the end?
When are you moving over? And to where?

Regards,
Karen

Hello Karen.

Skill Pathways D and E are (or more accurately was in the case of Skill Pathway D) options by which trade skilled applicants can secure a positive migration skills assessment from Trades Recognition Australia.

Skill Pathway D was the pathway by which individuals without a formal apprenticeship or qualifications and who had acquired their competencies through on the job training were able to obtain a positive assessment from TRA. This was typically achieved through the submission of references and Stat Decs.

Due to a significant number of fraudulent applications being submitted Skill Pathway D was removed without notice early in September last year:
Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News

Skill Pathway E is the pathway for those who have acquired an AQF Certificate III. An AQF Cert III can be obtained following a workplace assessment by a recognised assessor - organisations such as Trade Train and Silver Trowel are attending the UK regularly to assess certain of the construction trades, and we are aware of other assessors that are assessing cooks/chefs (in the UK), and floor finishers (in Melbourne).

With an AQF Cert III and 4 years of relevant and demonstrable work experience trade skills applicants can reasonably contemplate a positive skills assessment from TRA.

More details about TRA's Skill Pathways are here:
http://www.workplace.gov.au/NR/rdonl...tember2007.pdf

Note that separate work experience considerations must also come into play when lodging a general skilled visa application.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hi Joanne,

After months of researching Australia (following years of knowing we wanted to move out of the Uk) We have decided that we would start the ball rolling (paper work wise) Only to be confronted with a very large brick wall The removal of pathway 'D'

My husband is a roofer (has been for 10 years) but he learnt his trade from working with another company & training with the boss, informal training, if you like. He now owns his own successfull company & has done for 5 years.

I spent all day yesterday trying to find out more & have finally got more answers, that they may bring it back on August 1st, but with stricter guidelines (unsure of what exactly yet)

But I was interested in reading your post, to know how you are getting on with your application on pathway 'E' & if you dont mind me being nosey, telling me a little more?

Look forward to hearing from you,
Kelly.

Default Gone to TRA

Hi We had the same thing we had been over on holiday to see if my husband liked it he is a carpenter in the family business over 10 years, since he left school never did his formal training and we were just about to submit the tra when it changed. We did not know what to do so after many months of searching we got this companys name and contacted them they are call australian construction services ( Acts) for short what they do is they come out and assess you on site and you have to gather all docs showing you have 4 plus years in the same trade now it does cost £3500 sterling but at the end if you are sucessful you get your australian qualification which in turn you can apply through path way E. I will let you know how we get on with TRA but give the guys a shout they are really lovely and they will give you the low down. the web site is trade train google that name and it will come up let me know how you get on.

You do not need a workplace assessment if your husband is a Carpenter in the UK.

Rather, you are looking at an application for a trade skills assessment from VETASSESS: VETASSESS - Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services

Feel able to contact us if you would like to discuss further.

Best regards.

Hi Joanne,

Hows it all going, I noticed that you had a message posted to you from Alan Collett at 'go matilda' , I have been in contact with another man at 'Go Matilda' & he has been a great source of help. They really know their stuff!

Just when I was getting lost in a maze of 'tra's' and 'pathway d/e's' I found straight talking, prompt helpfull advice, at the end of an email.

But how is your journey down pathway E going for you? Have you started the trip, did you pay the £3500? (Tell me to mind my own business if im being too nosey)!

Im going to sit tight & wait for August 1st, see exactly what the new guidelines are going to be for pathway D & then decide if we will either:

Hopefully go for pathway D if they access on your skills & training (unlikely)

Get my husband to get some formal training & apply for pathway D (hope that doesnt take too long though)

Apply for pathway E

Ohhh, it types so simply! If only it was going to be so simple!

Hope to hear from you,
Kelly.
