Default Short intro & a question on x-rays on medicals

I've been lurking here for a short while and like many others, looks like I'll be spending some time here in the coming months..

As a quick introduction, I'm a married 30-something with a young baby and the goal is to migrate to Melbourne from Finland, hopefully within the next 12-18 months. My wife's a pharmacist and I'm in the ICT sector with a long career already behind me, so I'm guessing our chances of employment in Australia are quite decent. The current status is that I'm waiting on the ACS assessment.

Anyhow, I do have a question also: does anyone know whether chest x-rays are always required? The official guide says "Usually, a chest x-ray, medical examination [...] will be required", but any personal experience from anyone?

Hi sim,

Yes, chest x-rays will need to be done when you have your medicals.

Let us know how you get on with your ACS result. The wait is awful, isn't it!

Dolly

Thanks for the replies. I was under the impression that it is indeed required, but was curios about the wording "usually"..

Waiting for ACS isn't so bad - yet anyway - as life is busy otherwise. Of course that doesn't mean I wouldn't check the status online every day..
