Default A little advice

Hi all,
looks like a great forum so I think I'll be spending too much time on it over the coming months!

My wife & I have almost decided that we want to move to Australia (only in the last couple of weeks so haven't yet had much time to research). She is an experienced paediatric nurse so we are hoping that her getting work wont be an issue.

I am really looking for peoples opinions on how easy it would be for me to get a job in the IT / design industry. I am an interactive designer and run my own business which I will be hugely disappointed to leave behind but I think the benefits will ultimately outweigh the loss! Is there a good market for IT related work (in Brisbane for example)..?

As I mentioned its early days for us in terms of research so I'm just putting the feelers out at this stage. Any advice appreciated.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

Well, your wife will have no difficulty whatsoever in getting a job....and the IT sector is still good out here. Melbourne or Sydney are probably the best places for IT work (we live near Melbourne and husband is in IT/Telecommunications). Sorry, can't comment on Brisbane.

Have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum page "PLEASE READ....". There are some links to recruitment agencies. It'll give you an idea of what's out there and how much you will be looking at in terms of salary.

Any other questions, just fire away...

Dolly
