Hi,
I live in Carindale not too far from Thornlands. I like thornlands though and had a look at a few houses when I first got here. The properties on the bay are very nice but generaly more expensive. Thornlands and the other areas around the bay are generally increasing in popularity as the properties closer to brisbane become more expensive so you will get streets that have been devloped and more expensive and others that still have the original owners living in them that are yhet to sell (and make good money) or renovate. so a biot of a mixed bag really. A few good schools in the area. about 45 min commute into brisbane by bus or train.

Cheers
Brent

Hi Brent, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.

I also wanted to ask you about local supermarkets, which do you use, i haven't even a clue what Oz supermarkets are like or names or anything, and which is the closest supermarket to the Thornlands area!

Cheers, Wendy n Gav

There are plenty of supermarkets none as good as Tescos, Waitrose or Sainburys though. The main groceroy shops her are Woollworths (not the same as the UK woolworths) more expensive but better quality. then there is Coles good reasonable quality and prices. Super IGA and Action and a few others, same prices but the lower end of quality.

The closet big shopping precent is Cleveland with everything you need then there is Capalaba, Carindale or Garden City for big malls Westfield Whats on at Carindale

Cheers
Brent

Hey Brent, do you not use the Alex Hills shopping mall? Sounds like quite a big one.

Hi, we have recently moved to Cleveland which is right next door to Thornlands. Thornlands sits between Victoria Point and Cleveland. Victoria Point has a good sized shopping centre with plenty of shops and is only a 5-10 minute drive from Thornlands. Cleveland is a smaller shopping area. There is a Westfields at Carindale which is much bigger and only a 20 minute drive away in good traffic. We wanted to be close to the water so chose Cleveland as we can walk to the bay from here. Thornlands is more inland but not by much. The bayside area is really nice, very scenic and still only short drive into the Brisbane CBD...There is a train line into the city that ends here in Cleveland and buses that run regularly into the city.

We love it here. We love that we can walk anywhere very easily, its pretty flat where we are. There is a real community feel here too which we like. There also seem to be a lot of UK resident here as whenever we are out and about we always seem to hear that pommy accent so its all good. Bayside Brissie is really a great place and one that we feel will continue to become more popular as word gets out how great it is!!!
