I have been sending emails to companies in adelaide expressing interest in applying to them for jobs when we arrive in a couple of months,but never get so much as a reply or any answer at all,is this common out there

What are your circumstances? Do you have your visa in hand? If you ain't got a visa, they won't be interested at this stage. Are you selling yourself? My understanding is you need to be sending in a cv and a good cover letter so they want you rather than you want them! Its all in the preparation...
