Hi All, My name is Jackie and my husband and I are hoping to move to Australia. The option open to us is the Business Visa, however, we are not sure of which state we would like to move to. We have been to Brisbane & Sydney on holiday recently but we would also like to see Melbourne & Perth. We are intending to come back to Oz in November & do all these places. Our problem is, that we need to lodge an application with the state that we intend to set up our business in, and we need to have this signed & sent back to us before we can go ahead with our Visa application. We are running out of time as my husband will be nearing his 44th birthday by the time we come back from Oz. Therefore, can we just send applications to every state & hope they all stamp them?? My husbands business here in the UK is Electrical Wholesale so if anyone knows of where we would be the best place to set up, I would appreciate your advice. I look forward to talking to as many of you as possible in the coming weeks

Hi Jackie,
Welcome to the forum. I've moved your post to the Australian forum since you'll get a bigger response there. When you say your husbands business is electrical wholesale who are his customers? That may help with suggestions. If his customers are builders and developers that possibly points more to Brisbane, although there has been a lot of building going on in Melbourne too. Does he know who his competitors will be out here? I'm asking that question since we've had a Bunnings DIY store open locally and already the other DIY stores are suffering. One of them is almost a ghost shop now. Knowing where your competitors are may also help you decide where you want to move to - sorry if I'm stating the obvious I don't have any experience with business visas but we do have 2 migration agents on the forum who may be able to help - Alan Collett and Liana Allan. First consultations with most agents are free. Regards, Karen

Thanks for getting back to me Karen. We found out last night after reading all the Business forms that we can send them to more than one agency so they are going off this week. We are doing our "reccie trip" in Nov, so we will do all our research then. But I am sure I will have tons more questions before that so speak to you soon. Jackie

Jackie,
The age cut off for business skills visas if you are looking at a State Sponsored business skills visa is 55, not 45 ... See: Investor (provisional) (subclass 162) and Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Business Skilled Migration Best regards.
