Thank you Scottishcelts!! I am sure I will have a million and one questions going forward.

We applied for ACS back in end of Feb. A few days ago my husband got email notification that the results letter has been mailed (Registered). I have no idea how long it will take to get to our mailbox - as you can imagine, I anxiously await for the mailman to come everyday

So, any day now hopefully it will arrive.

Did you take the IELTS? Can it be taken after the application is submitted?

Thanks again for your support!

Raj

Hey,

I'm in Melbourne. I would SO move to Brisbane though! The weather is much more what I like up there (hot and humid!) than down here where it's much more temperate... I'm more of a tropical girl

I hear Adelaide is lovely too. probably not as hot I'm hoping to take a road trip to Adelaide and ferry over to kangaroo island one week.

The snails aren't really eating my garden (actually, i have no idea... we have a gardener who takes care of all that) but they get on my newspapers and it gets on my nerves LOL I also am not keen on watching them crawl up my house, but it's not the end of the world.

Hi Raj, It's very frustrating indeed but stick it out and it will all come together in the end.

We did not take the IELTS test as we are natural English speakers and had ehough points without it, i understand the IELTS test can add 10 points to your visa which is fair enough but if you don't need to take the test or need an extra 10 points don't put yourself through the stress, the whole process is bad enough without adding to it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tiff, My sis in law and family moved to Melbourne first and said the weather was rubbish so they moved up to Brisbane, which is why we are heading there, but we would have gone there anyway, i love the place! Funny you should say that about Adelaide as we wouldn't rule out a move there either, we have discussed it but want to stay in Brissie for the first few years anyway.

One way to sort out the snail problem - line the walls of your house with salt, sorts them out in no time.

Hi Scottishcelts,

That's great news! When are you planning the move? We just got the assessment back a couple of days ago...just need to get this application going now....

Just wondering, did you get notified via email that your visa has been granted or did you get it by post?

This is such a big move, it can be a bit overwhelming I'm sure....I sometimes get a little nervous myself...but then the excitement takes over

Thanks,

Raj

Hi Raj, we are planning to move end of September/beginning of October! Fingers crossed all goes well with the house sale!

You are notified via e-mail on your visa grant succession and it is wonderful! However if you are unsuccessful they notify you by letter, which is nice.

Maybe because we did our application through an agent we were sent a letter saying that our visa had been granted. Mind you that was back in 2004 so things may have changed....

Regards,
Karen

Wow, that sounds quick, was it for your permanent Residency? We are already in Oz and have been told it can take up to 1 year.
