Default Making the move

Hi everyone, me and my boyfriend have decided to make the move to oz as I have been offered a job. I have a couple of questions regarding his eligibility that I wonder if anyone could shed any light on?:
  1. 1
If I get sponsered (which i have been offered) will he have work rights even though we have never lived together, as I have heard that we may be able to prove we have been together
    1. 2
I have checked the Skills List for his job - Retail Manager, and could not see it on there, although General Manager and Sales Reps are worth 60 points. I have looked on the immi site and tried to email them but their site does not work.

I'd be grateful for any advice or pointers..

Steph

Hi Steph,

Welcome to the forum.

With regard to your partner, you will have to prove that you have been together for at least 12 months at the time of the application.

Here's an earlier thread (on a 457 visa) but the requirements for proving the relationship are the same:

457 Second Applicant - de facto

I'd recommend asking the advice of a migration agent. They will be able to advise on which job title to apply under. Their first consultation is usually free, without obligation (there are 2 agents who post on here (Alan Collett and Liana Allen)...you could ask them). We used George Lombard (Welcome to Austimmigration | George Lombard Consultancy Pty. Ltd. ).

Hi Dolly, thanks for your reply (and so quick!)

So it looks like we will need to complete our seperate applications, as we dont live together. Never mind at least we know now so we can get on with that...

I'll take your advice and contact an agent, we were hoping to avoid using one as I've heard that they can be quite expensive. I didnt know that they do free consultations though so I will chase that up.

We have also been told by a few people that one of the easiest ways is to go out on a working holiday visa and then get jobs and get sponsored while we are there. I will mention that to the agents aswell, and find out the pros and cons of that avenue..

Thanks again, I expect Ill be in touch with this forum again, especially when it comes to places to live!
