yup, though I have to say we have had 3 years here and I would be willing to stay longer but girls need a steady education now, oldest is 12...should you ever want to move this way I can certainly give you the real rundown on it...it is definitely not paradise but it is still fabulous if you can get used to the underdeveloped side of things!

Having worked around large portions of the undeveloped world, that is sometimes seen as a bonus. Childrens education is of course always a priority.

I know what you mean about the bonus of the undeveloped world. when i first got here I found it very difficult, the poverty around me made me guilty, no fresh milk for 6 mths, hooves and tongue in the supermarkets but no mince or chicken, having to take kids to other islands for medical treatment, rats in the house (nth of island is reclaimed swamp land!) infested with mozzies, but on the plus side, my kids are kids, naive childlike and getting enjoyment out of 'just being' no real worries on world news or politics we live in our own world and the pace is peaceful. unfortunately, as I said the childrens academic needs are dragging us away!! your career sounds amazing....

Yes unfortunately children don't stay kids. But I will tell you that in the long run you will find that the period they have had being kids will be of benefit to them. At least that is what we found with our two.

Your experience sounds a lot like a few places we have lived. I have been on a project where the village had a community farm going along with animals and veges which kept us all going. It was hard work but we all chipped in and it became a lot of fun. It was one of those where you were extremely sad the day that it all ended.
