Default taking meds thro customs

hi
can anyone tell me if we,re likely to have problems getting thro customs with medication, i am on quite high strength painkillers and have been for some time, during a 22 hr flight i will def need to take pain meds with me, should i get a letter from my gp or is it unlikely to be a problem, one of the meds is liquid and the rest are tablet form ? anyone else had exp trying to get thro customs with meds ?

Hi, We have a daughter who has type 1 diabetes and is insulin dependant.
We have travelled twice since her diagnosis, she is on insulin, it is in liquid form as well as carries needles for injections ect, we have a letter from doctor explaining this, we get asked and show letter, its always been ok, although some times more than others we have been looked at carefully.
I think its more down to the needles we carry than insulin, but you could get a letter to carry to be absolutely sure, especially the liquid,
My husband is on blood pressure tablets and carries them onboard ok, never been a problem...Maybe get letter for peace of mind or someone else on the forum may know more on this

I agree Nikki. Both my parents take loads of meds and when they came for a visit they had no trouble getting through customs since they both had doctors letters explaining the meds. My Mum actually declared it at customs and they didn't even bother reading the letter and waved them through.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Compp,

If your concerned then give Australia house a call and they should be able to advise you, or put you in touch with someone who can.

Regards,
Karen
