Default I need some help please!!!

Hello there everyone!!

I need some information and guidance about moving to Australia. Ive been for a holiday and i fell in love with Oz!

I am a qualified primary school teacher from the UK. I have looked into a working visa and i meet the requirements and have passed the points test. However, what i need to know is; if i apply for a working visa, can i then emigrate or extend my stay if i enjoy it so much that i dont want to go home? Its just i know the working visa is only for 12 mths and you cant work in a state for longer than 6 mths!!! So any ideas about what visa i could apply for?

Also, i was looking to move to NSW area! Does anyone know of any employment agencies in that area that deals with teachers?

I also want to know what its like over there because i would be coming alone and leaving my family back in UK. So if its an unfriendly place to live, i would like to know

Any information would be appreciated!!

Hi Tanya,

Welcome to the forum.

We came on holiday and feel in love with the place too.

If you check this government website Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)
I read that as you can only stay with the same employer for 6 months but you can find another employer? It also mentions how to extend it.

I would suggest having a chat with a migration agent. We have 2 on the forum - Alan Collett and Liana Allan, or read through some posts to see who others have recommended. The first consultation is usually free.

I don't live in NSW but you should be able to find some agencies through search engines, or try the job links in the "Please read..." post.

We've been here 9 months and we love it.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Tanya,

There are a few people that have asked the exact same question with regards to changing your visa status after entering Australia on a working visa. I'm afaid I don't have a clue on that one. We do have 2 agents that post on here so hopefully they'll be able to provide the answer.

Personally, I have found that Australians are incredibly friendly.

I've found this website that may be of help teachers.on.net - Australia's number one education employment website
