Default Does it course problems if you take boxes on the shipping for friends. HELP

Hiya,

1.
my friend moved to melbourne last sept the only thing is her mum found some boxes of hers which have paper work in. my friend has asked me to ship them in our container but on reading the customs forms you have to declare other peoples luggage. Will this course a big problem for us in oz when we get our container ie longer length for us to collect ?? should i ask my friend to ship it herself . Not sure what to do.

2
also on the customs forms it says any leather goods being shipped, does ths mean shoes or just leather skin ornaments ?? my oh says it means shoes too !!

3.
new purchases on the customs forms. Do u have to declare things like new microwave or new hoover if bought within last 12 months.

4.
Toiletries and makeup. i have a collection of little toiletries for when we go away weekends is it ok to ship these or not ie little shampoos and conditioners etc. also my makeup too much to take on flights with us but will itbe okay to ship or shoud i just chuck it.

any info will be appreciated.

Diane

This is just in general, as I have moved internationally a couple of times, though not to Australia.

#1 - It shouldn't be a problem to include your friend's paperwork in with your shipment. Just list it as belonging to her. Normally, there is a window of time (like, a year) in which you are allowed to ship in your personal effects duty free. If she's still within that window, there's no problem, plus paperwork normally has little or no value that can be subject to customs duty. But if you're worried about it, ask her mother to ship it directly to her.

#2 - If it says shoes, too, then indicate how many of your shoes are leather.

#3 - Yes, if you've bought new stuff within the time period they mention (1 year) then list it as new. You'll probably be charged customs and/or VAT on the items, just as though you had bought them from abroad and had them shipped to you in Australia.

#4 - No reason not to ship it if you want to keep it, but consider how long it will be in transit. Cosmetic items are probably easily replaced once you get to Australia, and your shipment will take several weeks, if not a couple of months to catch up with you.
Cheers,
Bev
