Default Retirement in Australia

Hi, I am new on this forum and I have a little less than thousand questions.
Me and my husband would like to live at least half of a year (winter here in Europe) in Australia.
1. Q: What is OZ? I am reading about it, but do not know what it means.
2.Q: Here we live in a beautifull little village: no store, no church, no pub, only 10 houses. We have app. 2 ha land around our house and we are strickly alone unless we or our neighbourgs wish to mingle (birthdays, holidays ...)
So, we are looknig for something simmilar, but by the sea. Is any possibility or is a devout wish?
O, I forgot: we live in Slovenia, a small Europe country with some mountains and a little seaside (25 km of shore )
Is there anyone whou would chat with me?
Regards, Natasa

Australia has plenty of tiny towns, but they are all in the outback and conditions are pretty harsh. I don't think you'd like it. You'd be more likely to find something close to what you want on the west coast, north of Perth, I think.

I've only been in Australia a little while, so I don't know as much about the geography. I think most of the coast is fairly well developed, and expensive.

OZ would be a great place to spend the European winter, though.

Thanks, newtoOZ. I hope someone from those parts of OZ will respond.

I don't think there are that many expats in the less populated areas. Most end up in Sydney and Melbourned, I think. There is a work visa program that gives five year visas to people willing to work in more remote locations, so I could be way off base about that.

There are lots of places you could think about South West of Perth

Hi Tamutka I Think you would like the Yorke or Fleurieu peninsula in South Australia. There are many small towns near the sea. Had you thought about living near a river? we have a home for sale in a small country town on the Murray river in South Oz, its only 1&1/2 hrs from beaches and you dont have trouble with the salt rusting your cars etc.

Hi I realised I had given you no information about my house if you were interested. It a chalet design in a small town called Wongulla in South Australia. You can look at photos and details at my agents website "riverestates". Dont forget to put 3 "w"s in front and a dot com dot au after. This site wont let me write the actual address properly.
Good luck.
