Default FINALLY some movement from DIAC 457 visa

i received an email today from my migration agent updating me on my 457 application, she's made progress:

I finally got through to DIAC communications team today after three days of calling them and my emails!!! The application has been assigned a case officer, xxx xxxxxx, but he hasn't looked at the application yet!! I did remind him of the time the application has been lodged and kindly advised him I had received other applications back approved that were lodged at the same time and finalised a couple of weeks or more ago : ) He said he will look at the application and have it finalised by 3.00pm tomorrow!!! I have got his direct telephone number and email so will kindly remind him if I do not hear from him by 3.00pm tomorrow.

Wish me luck!!!

Good luck, Andy! This waiting thing is crazy, isn't it?

I have a question for you -- your timeline shows that your company nomination was approved AFTER your visa application was submitted. Is that the case? I've been told I cannot apply until my company nomination has been approved.

The company application went in a few days before my own. They were both being processed at the same time. So, I guess you can!

Hope all goes well for you tmw Andy.
We were talking the other week about health insurance for the 457, does proof have to be submitted on initial application? If so, what form was the proof?

I had my x-ray a few days after my application was lodged. Not all Brits have to have x-rays because we're considered to be a low risk country for TB. I lived in Thailand for 3 years until last year which is considered to be a high risk company. I would hang fire until they ask you for the meds because they cost £90+ per person.

If you are instructed to get meds, then use a panel doctor. You can find more information and your local panel doctor here: Contact Us Ask the doctor to upload the results directly to the DIAC site, you will need your TRN and passport number for them to be able to upload. Meds are usually finalised within a few days.

26mins until DIAC start work today....

Hi Andy, I was actually meaning the insurance to cover up to joining Medicare. You had mentioned that you just bought annual travel ins. Did you provide this evidence in your initial app?

Oops, *note to self - stop speed reading*

Yeah, I took out an annual policy with Columbus Direct, it's good for a year but in increments of 90 days. So it satisfies DIAC and much cheaper than medical insurance. I think it cost about £58. When you get to Oz you can apply for medicare because the UK and Oz have a reciprocal agreement. We shouldn't have to take out the cover, but we do for the application. go figure...

Evidence of the policy was front loaded with my application - but you can add it later.
