Default Family question and nursing in brisbane

Is it better to go through an agency or directly contact a hospital with your cv?

We are looking at brisbane and will be heading over next year for 4 weeks at which stage I will be 36(ouch) to see if we like it. In the mean time I want to do as much research as possible because if I can arrange a few interviews myself during my visit al the better.

Also I have a daughter of 18 will I have any problems geting her a visa as she has no contact with her Dad in 17 yrs but he is on her birth cert?

Anyone else doing the same thing and wish to keep in tough let me know.

Hi blonid,

There were other nurses heading to Brisbane some time - if you do a search you'll find their posts and that may help.

I think with your daughter it may depend on whether she is dependent on you - you'll need to check the visas themselves. If she applies in her own right as an adult then she won't need her father's permission but it depends on what visa she will be suited for as to whether she can get in. Have you asked an agent about this?

Regards,
Karen

Default Nursing in Brisbane

Hi there,

I am interested in your story; I too am a nurse and wanting to go to Brisbane. I do not have an agent, too expensive, and I have had advice. I am older than you (bigger ouch), I am 46 and too old to be main applicant for permanent residency visa. My husband 10 years younger was going to be main applicant for PR but we have changed our minds. Now I am going on a sponsored long stay business visa as I have been told I will be seen as highly desirable (Ummm whatever), but as in I have lots of qualifications nurse prescribing, degree ect ect. So this is what I am in the process of doing The biggest hospital organisation that provide sponsorship is Ramsey health Care.

The only problem is my speciality is substance misuse, with loads and loads of qualifications in that field, and I love it!!! But it appears what Oz want are acute nurses in the hospitals, but fair enough if thats what I have to do then I will. If you go on the Ramsay HealthCare site it will tell you all about it.

Let me know how you get on if you have time.

Steph

Hi there,

Ooh 7 day stretches, havn't done them for a while, as I am in the community 9-5 Mon- Fri, mind you all change when I go Oz I suppose!!! Yes Brisbane is where are headed. My Dad lives in Mt Glorious, about 40mins from city centre, right in the middle of rain forest, and believe you me, I have no intentions of going up there in the heart of rain forest, it is bloody full of spiders (huntsman eslecially), and I am a true aracnaphobe!!!

I was bought up in Oz from a small baby to teenager, and its taken all these years to venture back. I went back last year, as I was on BBC Wanted Down Under, great experience. Well as I said I am not getting an agent and just going to go for sponsorship, this will save money (as they pay for the visa, and it will garauntee a job to go to. Draw backs are I will have to go work for who ever sponsors me for at least a year.

What type of nursing do you do? Keep in touch, we are aiming for early next year to be ready, as we have to sell house, and wrap up my husbands business ect. But the process takes quite a few months so making starts now.

Take Care

Steph Robinson

Hi Steph
I nurse in Oncology and love it. So your going for sponsorship- does this man you will be going for one of those interviews vai a company who will place you in a hospital- if it is good luck with that. Souns exciting and eyt scary but at least you rew up in OZ and have fmaily over.
I am to afraid of spiders but not enough to presently put me off. PLease pm me and let us know how the process goes. Good luck in selling the house-We dont have any home to sell but this also means we wont have a lot of money going over. Anyway take care and catch up soon.
