Hi All
Would someone be able to give me some advice, was looking to move to america but that doesn't seem possible so would like to look into moving to Australia, firstly i have a degree in criminology and also a diploma in social policy and criminology, so would like to work in the criminal departments, hopefully speacilizing in gangs, my husband owns his own decorating business so would look to carry on with this in Australia, i do have three children although two would come as one is hoping to join the army, one of my children is special needs, what are the chances of gaining visas into Australia and where would be the best area to move to, we love hot weather, outdoors and the beach! could someone help with advice and info please
cheers lynne

Hi Lynne,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked out the sticky posts at the top of the forum?

The "Please read..." post has links to the immigration website where you can check what visa would be appropriate for your family.

Depending on where you are at present there are emigration expos in the UK, and if you consult with an agent the first consultation is usually free.

If you love hot weather you want to be more north in Australia since the further south you go the colder it gets (generally). I know that Brisbane is a popular place to move to and if you search the posts you'll find some on Brisbane.

Hope that helps,
Karen

Hi Lynne,

As Karen said, your best bet is to consult an agent. They'll be able to advise you.

If you like hot weather, North Queensland (Cairns/Townsville/Innisfail/Bowan) would be the place to go. It's tropical weather up there, very hot and humid.

Hi Lynne,

If you check out the "Please read...." post that has the emigration agents organisations MIA and MARA posted there or you can try the agents on our forum - Alan Collett and Liana Allan.

How long it takes to get to Oz depends on which visa you go for. If you are demand it can be a matter of months, if you're not (and we weren't in demand) it can take a couple of years.

How long until you finish your degree? Will you need that to move to Australia? That last question may depend on the visa that you get. Will be able to continue with your degree in Australia? You need to take those sort of things into consideration before you make your decision.

Regards,
Karen

Hi
Thanks for the advice, i have about a year and half left on my degree but i am also in the process of applying to become a trainee probation worker, which would then give me some work experience i think it is a job in demand but not entirely sure, although having checked the threads my husbands job which is painting and decorating is a job which is in demand, so things do seem positive, but before i actually make the plunge i might be better getting work experience in my occupation what do others think?
cheers lynne

Hi Lynne,

Most of the visas will look for favourable on you with some experience, however if your husbands skills are in demand he can always be first applicant and you can come in as the spouse. In that case it may not matter about your experience.

Obviously an agent will be able to give you firm advice.

Regards,
Karen
