hi can anyone help
we have our visa but at the time of signing on with our agent were told not to worry about our son 20 who is not a dependant as he could go on a working holiday visa.
well we got our visa last week so starting looking into our sons visa option and working holiday visa is totally unsuitable for him. think we need to go down the PR route but is NVQ 2 & 3 hotel and hospitality enough. he went to college on day release and has been with the same company since leaving school but is this enough... have been told he might need 5 yrs experience and he only has 4 so dont know what the heck to do now.
NO WAY we will go without him even if the other kids let us so any advice or info would be most gratefully received. we are so mad with the flipping agent, he knew this was supposed to be a permanent move and cant understand why he gave us the advice he did. he is no longer with the company that did our visa so they basically dont give a damm
many thanks in advance
karen

Hi Karen,

Sorry to hear about what happened, but that's why I was surprised that your son was going for a working visa since that wasn't permanent.

We have 2 agents on the forum Liana Allan and Alan Collett - it may be worth getting in touch with them to see if they can offer any help. I don't know enough to be able to advise on this one.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Karen,

What a nightmare!

If I were you I'd definitely seek alternative professional advice. Have you made a complaint to the original company you used?

Dolly

Are they a part of MIA or MARA? If so I would lodge a formal complaint against them so that they don't do this again.

Karen

I was thinking the same thing. The company has shown appalling service and should be held accountable. If people don't register a complaint these companies will just continue to mess up other people's lives too.

thanks for taking the time to reply.....well we are still no further forward. have rang a couple of agents for advice, still waiting for them to get back to us. even the original comp we were with who promised their manager would contact as soon as possible..... result... nada, nothing, nice to know they are bothered. how would i go about making a complaint, even if i do it,s just more paperwork isn,t it, it,s not actually going to help our position that i can see. we are, i think going to take him on a working holiday visa and by the time we get there he will jst need 10 more months of experience and will then be eligible to apply for a 175 PR, (i think) so we are getting all his tra stuff together now, or as much as we can. would have been even harder once we are in au, to get references ect so we figured if we get as much as we can together now, and then when he has the extra experience he needs he,ll be all ready to put his application strait in.
we are prettty sure you have to be outside oz when they actually go to grant your PR visa, but can anyone elaborate on this. do you have to leave well in advance or would they give notice that you have to leave so they can grant said visa ?

Have you thought about a student visa, with study at a TAFE (trades related occupations)? Some courses are available with apprenticeships to support the learning at college.

This said, studying as an international student is not cheap - allow $10k minimum annually.

A suitable 2 year course at a TAFE (leading to an AQF Certificate III) should lead onto a permanent residency visa - I have a factsheet on this strategy if you are interested.

Best regards.

If they are MARA or MIA then you can go to the websites and contact them about what has happened. The organisations seem to have codes of contact.

No it won't help your situation but it may stop someone else from going through your situation. Obviously the choice is yours what to do

Karen
