Default Figuring out the budget

I know there are a lot of cost of living figures on here, and thanks to all of you that have spent the time to put yours up there (although Im still trying to figure out if I would buy 2.5 kg of potatoes.... the metric conversion will be quite the challenge). Im trying to figure out what Im going to bring home every payday.

Ive been told "Your average Pay is approx $70000 before tax but this varies with overtime and penalties". With this salary, what can I expect to have in pocket on payday each fortnight (Im learning the lingo too).

Most importantly, as a single male, is this a comfortable salary to live on, save with, and be able to travel, "play", etc.

Hi MedicRob,

If you check out the "Please read..." post there is a simple tax calculator on there under the Taxes section that should give you a rough idea of your take home pay.

It really depends on your lifestyle and what "play" means

Tickets to go to our local cinema are A$13.50 each for an adult, local theatre tickets about A$44 each (depending on the show), and local restaurants vary from about to A$44 for 2 to as much as you want to pay.

Regards,
Karen
