Talking Anyone from the US in OZ now?

I am considering moving to Australia (Adelaide is my choice). I am just not real sure on how the money comparison will be. I make enough here to get by with my family, but with the OZ tax system like it is, I am not sure. ANy info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi JulianK,
I'm an aussie currently in Canada (my husband is Canadian) but we normally live in Adelaide. If you have any questions maybe I can help.

Hi Starry, thank you for your time. I guess my biggest concern is money. Is it feasible to live off a one person income for a family of 4 or more (don't know yet if my neices will come with us)?

Hi JulianK, the level of money required would depend on your type of work and where you wanted to live.
At an extreme basic wage of $500 per week, rent can be had for $180-200.
Tax is minimal on a low income, rises at a higher bracket. Low income earners are covered by the health care system , public schooling is also minimal. You would have to check what aussie newcomers are entitled to but from what I have heard the US has far more of a user pays system.

HI Kendra, thanks for all of your responses on all of the threads I have posted I gues right now one of my biggest concerns is what the equivelant of jobs/money from here to there. Was it difficult financially for you (or anyone else) to move from another country (other than UK- it seems like their dollar or lb<sic> gets the most bang).
