Default G' day

Hi every one, just introducing our selfs, Daryl and Sue Armstrong here.Looking to move to aus, and hoping that you all might have some help and guidance, or words of wisdom, been looking at the forum for the last couple of days and have been so pleased to see that we ain't the only ones with these worries and concerns.

we have been in contact with a company who help people get a visa, but after filling in the form on line and emailing it to him, i heard a tone in his voice that was saying, oh dear, this wont be easy. my wife and i are both the wrong side of 30, .. im 41 and Sue is 39, (OUCH!! i just got a clip round the ear for telling you that.) and even though we have experience in stuff, we don't have paper qualifications for anything. So we only have an Uncle as family in Aus, no good, and my 10 years as a branch manager of a company suppling finance for cars in the sub prime market.and my h.g.v. licence.

We have 2 kids my boy Connor 12 yrs old, and my daughter Tash 18 yrs old, (comming on 36, you know what i mean)

We have 2 very close friends in Perth, (Hi paul hi Clare) and are looking to move to that neck of the woods.
do you think there are any companys that would sponser a 40 year old branch manager, or h.g.v. driver?

Thanks for listening, this must be what it's like in therapy.
ave a nice one you all. Daz, Sue.

Hello there,

Welcome to the forum.

Well, before you go any further you'll have to establish that your job is on the MODL (Migration Occupation in Demand List).

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

To find a more detailed description of these jobs, look at this website:

1220.0 - Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) Second Edition, 1997

Did your agent give you any clues as to why he thought it would be difficult for you?

You could go down the Designated Area Sponsored (provisional) subclass 496 visa, with your uncle being your sponsor but your job will have to be on the MODL list and then you'll need to pass a skills assessment.

Have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum "PLEASE READ. Helpful websites...". The first two websites are where you'll get most of the info you'll need. Have a good read.

Come back if you've got any more questions. We've got a couple of migration agents that lurk around so hopefully they'll be able to help.

Dolly

PS oh and re your age, as long as your main visa application is submitted before you turn 45 you're ok...so you've got a few years to go!!!!

Default Thank you.

Thank you for your advise, our agent has'nt said no chance yet, it was a tone in his voice,
is it worth me speeking with more than one agent?my one is in England but deals with his lawyer in Tazmania.he is emailing our info to him next week and said he will see what he says.
Does the classification web site mean if i have that relivent experience that i can use that for visa application, because the manager-addministrator i believe is me?

Hi Daryl,

If you like we'll send you the bill for the therapy

I would also check more than one agent since 2 agents said we wouldn't be able to get in, but the third agent just switched round the applicants and we got in!
I was in IT, and my husband a gardener, so he became the main applicant with me as second applicant and we got in (although it still took us about 2 years).

Regards,
Karen

Default Hi there Daryl

Welcome to the forum!

Your agent should be telling you ways of getting you out here and advising which options you may have rather than making it sound daunting. HGV is a way they could look into because i know people over here, friends of mine who get paid quite well for that.
Speak soon!

Default Agent needed

Hi All, just wondering does any one have an agent that can help us, i think ive found out that my skills are not on the list, so need some one will take on a case that is not easy, the 457 temp business entry visa is a route that might be possible as we have freinds to help, but need some one to do it for us, a bit lazy i know but want to do it right.
we would gladly accept any help on this matter from any agents out there that want to earn a hard buck.

Hi Daryl,

I completely understand wanting an agent to do it for you so you get it right - that's why we used an agent too!

If you do a search on the posts you'll find some recommendations for agents.
Our one was the Emigration Group in the UK, and you also have 2 agents on this forum Alan Collett and Liana Allan. I can't remember which agent Dolly used (she'll be along to tell shortly ) but I know she was turned down by some agents too initially.

As Michelle mentioned HGV drivers are definitely in demand around here since everything goes on the road rather than rail (we don't have a working railway down here in SE South Autralia!). I'm not sure if that will help you with the application though.

Regards,
Karen
