I see you've already contacted Alan

Hello Daryl, I find myself in much the same situation as yourself, lots of experience and no qualifications. A 9 yrs old Daughter and 17 yrs old son. I am still talking them round to the idea of going. My partner is the other side of the coin he is very qualified, and like you the tone I have been getting on the Phone is "Oh Dear! you need 120 points, so why not come talk to us!", but we are not ready to go that far just yet, with meeting with agents. Im 38 and my partner is 43. So it is worrying but I am optimistic about the whole thing, and excited.

the other thing that confuses us is the registering of qualifications "TRA". Has your agent giving you any ideas on what to do about your qualifications.

Will keep you updated! So good luck your not ALONE!

hi
just noticed you say your son is 17 and you are still trying to talk the kiddies round, just wondered if you are aware of the fact that if your son is working and dependant once he reaches the age of 18 he will no longer be classed as a dependant and would then have to apply for a visa under his own steam, if he is still in full-tim education or unemployed thats a different matter but if he is working you really need to look into a visa asap. i am not sure if they count under 18 and working as a dependdant but i,de really look into it, you dont want to leave it for a few months and then discover he cant come on your visa which is the position we found ourselfs in
good luck with whatever you decide

hi, sorry for worrying you, i should,ve said.... if your child is in full-time education that means they are still dependant, i really think you should always start by consulting an agent, most are happy to give an initial consult for 10 mins or so for free, you can then decide if you want to employ an agent to 'manage' your visa application, i think most would agree that the tra skills assessment is the hardest bit, you can employ an agent just to do this bit and then do the main application yourselfs, if you feel confident enough. anyway good luck to you all and i hope whatever you decide it works out.

Talking Thats Ok

Thanks Compp,

I have just been on the phone with and agent in Dublin and she is arranging an appointment for us next week. It was good advice for us to seek help from an agent. I will still use the forum as it is excellent getting a lot of different veiws on the subject.

So I will keep you all updated and I look forward to hearing about everyone else's journey along the way! thanks again Compp
