Default Arriving in Sydney in 1 MONTH...

Hi Everyone,

We're off to Sydney (me, hubby and our 2 great kids, boy 4 and girl 2) in ONE MONTHS TIME!!! Eeeek and we have sooo much to do which is where I'm hoping some of you might be good enough to provide info and guidance.

Our most pressing matter, this week!!, is finding somewhere to live on arrival. Does anyone know a good source of serviced rentals, our belongings are due to arrive 10 weeks after we do so we want sufficient coverage by taking a 3 month let. We want to live in the Lower North Shore, suburbs of interest are Crows Nest, Cremorne, Mosman, Balmoral, Kirribilli but am open to ideas. My husband will be working in CBD, unsurprisingly!! and I'm looking to bring together his commute with a great family location including great schools, access to family friendly beaches and for me just a decent G&T will do it

It would be great to hear from anyone who is going through or has been through similar experience (sound like a therapist...am NOT!!) especially around the serviced rentals area.

Thanks in advance
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked out the "Please read.." post since that has links to property websites for rentals as well as sales, and there are also the posts "A list of things to do before you emigrate" and "A list of things to do when you arrive"?

Why do you only want a rental for 3 months? Will you be moving somewhere else when your stuff arrives? I'm asking because I don't know what the rental market is like in Sydney but speaking as a landlord I'd rather have someone for 6 months than 3. If you take a look at the other threads you'll find what others have done to get a rental, and what you need.

Good luck,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Thanks for the info I will find those threads and take a look. The reason for a 3 month initially is that as soon as our belongings arrives we want to take an unfurnished place to enable us to settle as quickly as poss and for the kids to have familiar things around them. I think maybe a 3 month holiday let is the way forward, what do you think?

Thanks
V
