Lightbulb Sponsership/info on moving in general

Hi

My husband and i are considering emigtaing to australia and were wondering if there are firms out there whom sponser people via employment and if so could any one direct me to any websites.

My husband is an electrician and i am a health care manager.

I am also wondering if there is anyout there whom has recently moved an would like to share there experiences. My main motiviation for thinking of moving is for my children and to give them a better standard of life.
I would also like to know how people went about emmigrating to australia and if it was a long progress and how easy/difficult it was.
We currently live in Middlesbrough (which has a lot of industy, good entertainment and goodschoold) which is a fairly large town but not a city and therefore not as exspensive as a city either we would be looking to move some where similar (obviously somewhere with construction for my husband to work) and would like any recommendations or views on where other people have moved.

Many thanks Hope i havent asked for too much info.

there are no web sites that you can go on that i,ve ever heard about, getting sponsership can be extremely difficult. you struck a cord as yr reasons are the same as ours were, we first instructed an agent 5th jan 07 so it can be a very long drawn out process. many people do the visa,s themselfs but i think you only do this if you have a v strait forward application and have done yr home work. we used an agent as it,s quite expensive if you get it wrong although the agents themselfs also cost a fair bit. the first thing really is to suss out which visa is best for you. the main thing is to ensure you apply for the ciorrect visa. many doing it themselfs get this bit wrong. there are a few sites like this where you can get loads of really helpful advice and info. if you go down the agent route ensure they are MARA registered, this is the agents governing body. there are many out there that once paid will appear to not give a damm. if possible go on recommendation, there is 1 guy in particular who,s name comes up time and again as a brilliant agent, his firm also has a discusion web site which he regulary posts on. we didn,t use them as we didn,t know about them, although to be fair our agent to date has also been good. above all do your home work before you decide anything. good luck and if you want the web address,s i mentioned feel free to private message me.

Hi there,

It's very difficult to actually find a company that will sponsor you. It does happen, but it's rare.

Have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum "PLEASE READ..helpful websites...". The two government immigration links are the most important for you at this stage.

Not sure what info you have already, but the basics are to find out if you have have enough points and if your job is on the Migration Occupations in Demand List. Then you have to decide on which visa to go for. Do you have relatives already living in Australia?

What is the points test? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

If you do a google search for a migration points calculator, you'll be able to see if your criteria gets you enough points.

Going through the visa process is different for everyone. It depends on your own individual circumstances. Some breeze through the whole process and others have to fight with grim determination.

Hope this helps

Dolly

hi there!

Welcome to the forum,

First of all you dont have to be looking at sponsorship if your husband is an electrician?
We live in queensland which everyone in australia says is the best place to live in australia, the weather is great here, there is lots going on and there is lots of things to do, plus you are quite near (plane ride) from other cities like Sydney, Adelaide, melbourne etc.

My website caters for people who are asking the sorts of questions that you are asking! its funny because our best friends who are also out here, the husband is an electrician and used to have his own business in the uk and had done for over 12 years, they have 3 girls who are aged 13, 7, 5 and they are very happy here, the schools are good, they just fit in superbly to life in oz!

hope that helps you! good luck.

Click on the person's username you want to PM.

You are then given some options. Choose the 'send a private message to..'.

Easy as that!
