Hi - we're mainly looking in the flemington area as that is where our relatives are. but also looking at clifton hill, parkville, just somewhere not too far out of the city. which is probably what everyone wants!!

we have put together a pack and covering letter etc, so hopefully we will have a bit more look!! we just went to a place and we were the only ones there so fingers crossed!! i think because i am only temping at the moment (with a view to a perminant position) that may put them off. but our lovely relatives have said there is not rush and we can stay however long!

where abouts in melbourne do you live? how long you been here?

xx

The place we ended up renting took a little over a week of hard looking, but he set the inspection the day before because we called so it was only us and one other person who showed up.

I also took the time to write a 'to whom it may concern' cover letter explaining our situation and that we had just relocated. Another tip is to include e-mail addresses or copies of reference letters from overseas landlords. They used the e-mails, which was easier and faster for both sides.

Hope you have good luck finding the perfect rental!!

I'm living in the eastern suburbs - St. Kilda/Elwood area. It's lovely there. I've been here since the New Year. So far, so good. Pretty much everything is settled now - apartment, furniture, cars, jobs, medicare, etc... Just have to take care of insurances (should be sorted by end of day). It'll feel good to be done with all of the 'settling in' stuff so I'll have some more time to explore!
