Default from lincolnshire to perth

Hi im a newbie to this.
Me and my wife and 2 children are trying to emigrate to Perth (wife doing all the work).
Were going with an agent called, imigration unit,, Has anyone heard of them??
There on about sending me to collage to get a trade in bricklaying. I'm quite looking forward to it as i was a ground worker before we moved to lincolnshire. I have no useful qualification's apart from a slaughter... iv been a flexographic printer for about 5yrs now..
My wife does purches ledger and credit control she has done for about 15 yrs now.
The agent seems to good to be true as there saying the meet and greet fill the fridge in the rented house they will help sort out for us.
Is this the norm???
Sorry for the essay.
Danny

Hi Danny,

Welcome to the forum.

I don't have any experience of that company.

We didn't go for any meet and greet since it was a few years between getting our visa and moving out here. We also bought a house before we moved out here so we didn't go into rented accommodation at all, which is quite unusual.

Regards,
Karen

Hi there Danny,

I've not heard of your agent either so can't comment.

There are printers on the SOL list, are any of those jobs close to what you do? I'm not sure why your agent has told you to get a trade qualification other than both your skills aren't on the list. Surely it's going to take at least a couple of years to get a qualification in bricklaying?

Remember, you don't have to have formal qualifications in your field of work, all you need to do is to prove you work in that environment, your experience and what you've learned since doing that job - but your job has to be on the SOL list.

We arranged a rental property before we came over so we had somewhere to go as soon as we arrived so didn't do the 'meet and greet'. I have a friend who actually provides a meet and greet service but she's in Queensland so not of much help!

Dolly

Who would you reccomend to help us. I know that my job is on th SOL list but I do not have a qualification in printing, it has just been in house training whilst doing the job.

Do you mean recommend an agent? There are several recommendations on the threads from people and we have 2 agents who are forum members - Liana Allan and Alan Collett. Whoever you choose make sure that they are MIA or MARA registered then you know that they are a registered agent.

Karen

Thank you. Since speaking to you last my wife found Liana Allan on a website and emailed her out details, she has emailed us back and looking into the best option for us. It sounds like we have probably picked a better option this time round, as you confirm.
Many thanks

Hi there I am also new to all of this. My partner and I, along with my 8 month daughter are also considering moving to Perth. We are visiting and EXPO in London on Saturday to understand the process a little more.
Just wondering if anyone could give us an idea of how much an agent would cost???
Also, I ahve been looking at Cottesloe (although it looks expensive)...does anyone have any thoughts on this area and the schools?

Default Sorry

Sorry for not replying. Were still in the early stages of this move (If we can go) I have just received my data protection back and my past isn't the best one. (iv had a couple of brushes with the law) nothing Major just silly. I'm just afraid my past will stop my family from having a better life. were trying to move to Perth but were not to sure how much its going to cost. Were putting are house on the market and I'm doing all the overtime i can so we've got plenty of money to have a comfy start. We just wont to get out of UK. As the way its going we wont be able to afford to live here as everything has gone up in price. Even my income tax and nothing to compensate.. Rip off Briton. Its like the working man is getting shafted out of his home. Anyway i hope you get what your looking for.

Hi Danny,

I shouldn't worry too much...I think for anyone to 'fail' the police checks they would have to have a "substantial criminal record".

Character Requirement - Applications & Forms

When you submit your main application (with your police checks), write a letter explaining how you were led astray by others and that you realise it was a bad part of your life and that you are now in a stable relationship with family responsibilities etc. Also it might be wise to add a couple of character rererences as well.

You could always ask the two agents on here (Alan Collet and Liana Allen) for their advice too.

Dolly

Hi Danny,

As Dolly says check with your agent and they should be able to advise you on this. If it's minor then I would have thought you would be okay.

Regards,
Karen
