Default 457 visa information please.

Just after some information about the 457 visa. I was offered a sponsership deal in WESTERN OZ and they informed me that after 9-12 months I could have a permenant residency. However I have since had another job offer for Queensland Health and they said I would have to be on a 457 visa for 2 years before I could get PR. Anyone got any advice??
Thanks Janice

PS Thanks Dolly for all your help..

Hi,
Thanks for that, are you a nurse? If you are if you dont mind me asking what type of relocation package did you get? How soon do you expect to emigrate?
We would go as soon as we could but our house hasnt sold yet. I am still confused as to the packages they offer with Perth it was up to £20,000, the Queensland said its up to me to negotiate with the individual companies.
Anyone any advice on how much to ask for etc?
Thamks Janice

Don't know if thats good or bad lol Applied in august waiting for final decision re visa as we speak, going alone for 4 months then my husband and son are following me as soon as the house is sold
Cheers

Hello
Depending on your qualifications and experience you may be able to apply for permanent residency immediately. If you send me your CV and details of any family that you may have in Australia then I will provide a free assessment.

Hi Liana,

I am not really sure how to attatch my CV other than to an e-mail address and I tried to e-mail you but it is blocked.
I can give you a rough idea about my background.
I am a community psychiatric nurse (mainly worked within forensic services)
I am a band 7.
I have a diploma in higher education and a BSc degree in practice development mental health.
I have been qualified for 13 years and am 34 years old. If you want my cv you will have to advise me on how to do this.
Thanks Janice.

Hi Jacqui,

It interesting to find out what type of packages/offers nurses get. As they all seem different, I was told to neg with Queensalnd health as they would pay for visa's and flight costs and often shipping costs etc. Have you sorted out rental accommodation yet? I am quite tempted to just apply for my own visa so I am not on a contract, as I have been told agency nurses get more money and then are free to choose what area they like etc. Its so difficult deciding what to do..
Good luck anyway, hope you enjoy Melbourne.
Janice

Hi there
You are eligible for the work permit based on the information that you have provided so long as you have no health or character issues (which I highly doubt, given your position).
Have the employers offered to sponsor you and do all the paperwork for you? If the person handling your personal visa application is not a registered migration agent, be cautious about listening to advice they might have. Good luck with it all.

Janice, did you make it to the Queensland Health interview in Manchester last week. They offered me a position pending reference check and police check which should work out.
