Default IT Profesional Migrating to Aus

Hello,

I am an IT profesional, I am moving into Sydney at of March. Hvae few queris and appreciate some idea or local knowledge.

1. I would like to know the the IT market and the likelihood of me securing a job in a month or 2 months is possible?

2. Which would be a good suburbs in Sydney with moderate or low cost of living to move in to rent a room ? I was in Bondi early Feb I like the place but someone told me its a bit of high cost suburbs so looking to for lower one if possible.

3. How or where could I look for Temp Job or part Time Job ( Office admin , Helpdesk , Kitchen helper ) while waiting for IT job ?

4. Any other thing that I may need to know.

I have gone throught the 4 things to do thread and its really useful. Thanks for the info Karen.

Appreciate if I could get some feedback on my queries here.

Regards,
Steve

Hi steve78, not too sure about your other worries but as far as Sydney is concerned there is no low cost accomodation! I think it is the equivalent to living in London/Dublin!

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum.

Depends on your area of expertise.
If you check out job sites such as Online job search.
All of these vacancies will assume that you have a right to work in Australia so I assume that you have a visa that allows that (you didn't mention what visa you have).

As Scottishcelts mentioned I've never heard of low cost living in Sydney since it's the capital and so is as expensive as other capital cities around the world.
I don't know the area well enough to be able to advise on this one.

Temporary jobs can be found either through job websites or through local job agencies.

That was what I about to suggest to you . It wasn't just me since Dolly has done a lot of threads too, and of course members who are already in Australia are giving their experiences too.

Regards,
Karen

Default Thank you : Visa and Initial Entry

Hi ,

Thank you for all the inputs. I am holding Australia PR 136 Skill Migrant Visa. I recently entered Sydney on Feb 2008.

Would like to check whether is there any specific things I need to do fo rthe initial entry ?

In my Visa offer letter its stated the date I need to do my intial entry to Aus. When I came to Sydney I just entered the Immigration and they didnt ask me anything.

My question is is that all for the initial entry or do I need to do some verification ?

Regards,
Thanks

Hi Steve,

Assuming your PR visa was in your passport that was it. I know I thought they'd be something more to it as well They will have taken a note of the visa and the passport and that's it.

Regards,
Karen
