Default Bringing Aircraft with us

Hi,

We are planing on moving to Brisbane area around the July - Sept time. I am having trouble finding out the laws and such on brining aircraft into the country. We have 2 Hot Air Balloons that we need to bring with us. Does anyone know of where to go to get the information. Has anyone brought over aircraft.

Thanks

Well, this is a first! Never seen a question like this before.

All I can come up with at the moment is the Australian Customs website Customs procedures for importing and exporting

I'll keep looking and see what I can find out.

Hi Onthemove,

That's a new one on me too so I think you'll have to confer with an agent and like Dolly suggested check out customs procedures.

I know our Mustang (a car not a horse ) had to be steam cleaned when it came in and I would have thought there would be some sort of cleaning process for the hot air balloons too (assuming that they are allowed in).

Regards,
Karen

Hi,

I've had a good route round and I can't find any info....so I think your best bet would be to phone or email Customs.

I'm very interested to hear how you get on!

Dolly

Unsure about the customs issues regarding bringing in hot air balloons.

but here is something that may help. In Australia we have a Government Body that regulates aircraft and pilots. Including maintenance, bringing and registering aircraft from overseas.

Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)
GPO Box 2005
Canberra ACT 2601
(02) 6217 1330
Civil Aviation Safety Authority

Hope this may help. A relative brought in a plane from the US and the paper work was a nightmare. Australia was a very good safety record in regards to airplane safety and these are the guys that regulate it.
Cheers
